Italian Independent Publishers

Book Pride enters a new era with Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino

Book Pride, the Italian Book Fair of Independent Publishing, becomes part of the Turin International Book Fair: the idea is to consolidate the event and build new forms of visibility for small and middle-sized independent publishers. The 2025 editions of the public-facing event will occur in Milan, March 21-23, and in Genoa, October 3-5.

As its name suggests, Book Pride was born in 2014 to give prominence to a segment of the industry expressing the quality and attentiveness of small and middle-sized Italian publishing. The event was first launched in Milan. As it progressively grew, the Genoa edition of the event was subsequently introduced.

Through the years, the fair has always kept its independent profile, working side by side with publishers. However, the financial weakness of the fair was exacerbated by the two-year stop due to COVID, resulting in a debt situation requiring an urgent change of direction and a new industrial model.

The operation was facilitated by Eventi 3 Srl, a shareholder of both events, who will bridge the old and new management. Book Pride must evolve and integrate with the Turin International Book Fair projects.

A new phase of the fair is born: securing the event, but above all, it is designed to innovate and expand it. The goal is to systematise skills, communication power and economies of scale to innovate the event while staying true to its founding principles. Salone del Libro's entry aims to build a more solid home for independent publishing, for all small and middle-sized publishers

“Independent publishers have stood with Book Pride during its most difficult years", says Isabella Ferretti, outgoing president of the fair. "I am glad that Salone del Libro is offering its expertise to support the rich and fruitful segment of independent publishing, allowing this adventure to continue. My most sincere thanks go to those who were here before and those who are starting now."

In recent years, Salone del Libro has built many cultural projects throughout Italy, from Saluzzo to Parma and Bari. With Book Pride its network of reading promotion activities is further reinforced.

Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino and Book Pride look forward to meeting publishing houses, readers and the entire book industry in Milan at the Superstudio Maxi spaces from 21 to 23 March 2025 and in Genoa at Palazzo Ducale from 3 to 5 October 2025.

"Independent quality publishing is one of the cornerstones of the Italian book industry”, adds Silvio Viale, president of the Association Torino Città del Libro, “Salone del Libro has always supported it. I would like to thank the team that has worked with great dedication over the years, President Isabella Ferretti, CEO Sara Speciani, the Argentovivo staff, the entire Board of Directors and - of course - ADEI, the Association of Independent Publishers who promoted the event. Well aware of the precious history Book Pride has built over the years, Salone del Libro looks forward to the beginning of a new chapter to be written with the entire book supply chain".
