OFFICINA FONICA TORINO SCUOLA MEDIA GOBETTI SETTIMO TORINESE

Officina Fonica Torino and Gobetti middle school, of Istituto Comprensivo Settimo I in Settimo Torinese, created, throughout the 2023/24 school year, a microphone acting workshop aimed at producing the audiobook “ The Book of Beasts” by Rudyard Kipling with the integration of music and sound effects created by students.This is the first audiobook which was entirely created in a school classroom!The activity was greatly appreciated by the students who had a try at reading aloud.The students had the chance to practice how to use their own voice and Luigi Conte also taught the students how to make sounds to comment on the words.The sound workshop led to the writing of eight stories in the form of a soundtracked audiobook with narrative voices and fantastic main characters. The audiobook will be published on the Officina Fonica website, on the school’s institutional website and on other platforms.OFT has started publishing entirely self-produced audiobooks on its website www.officinafonicatorino.it since 2023. In the OFT stand there will be a “microphone corner” for anyone who would like to record stories of their choice and, at the same time, practice their own voice.
