The largest italian book fair
Thousands of publishers gather yearly at the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino exhibition area, Italy’s largest book fair, which registered 215,000 attendees in 2023.
From literature to philosophy, from science to art, from journalism to religion, from cinema to music: every year some of the most influent and interesting personalities of the global cultural environment meet in Turin. Inside Lingotto Fiere exhibition centre there are almost forty conference rooms hosting a program of more than 1,200 events.
Salone Off is an initiative born in 2004 with the aim of bringing books and performances outside the Lingotto pavilions, mainly involving the suburbs and the territory of the metropolitan area. Libraries, bookshops, theatres, former factories, cafés, streets and squares, public places, hospitals, parks and gardens, prisons, cemeteries and metro stations.
A great networking occasion and a program dedicated to all the professions in the publishing sector. Salone del Libro organises workshops, conferences and b2b meetings at Lingotto exhibition centre and during the whole year. It is a physical and virtual place to meet, train and find out all the news involving the book industry. The Rights Centre is one of the most important appointments in the European agenda of the publishing sector for selling and buying translation and publishing rights. Book to screen is the section dedicated to cinema and TV series rights sale. Publishers and agents from all over the world travel each year to Turin to take part in what has been described by participants an “extremely well-organized, easy, fun and productive” trading and networking opportunity.
Supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, this is the section of Salone that focuses on schools and teenagers. It offers various activities throughout the year for students across Italy. This section serves as a laboratory of ideas where students can experiment, understand, and discuss together using the best editorial materials for kids and teenagers. There are many projects ongoing throughout the year, but the longest-running one is Adotta uno scrittore, which has been bringing the most relevant contemporary authors to schools and prisons since 2004. The Educare alla lettura courses are dedicated to teachers and are available both at the fair and online throughout the year to promote reading among younger generations.
