More than just a book fair

Every year, from literature to philosophy, science to art, journalism to religion, cinema to music, some of the most influential and engaging personalities in the global cultural environment meet in Turin. The Lingotto Fiere exhibition centre features a program of more than 1,200 events.

Salone Off

Salone Off, a 2004-born initiative, is a testament to the pervasive power of literature and performances. It brings these art forms outside the Lingotto pavilions, mainly involving the suburbs and the territory of the metropolitan area. Libraries, bookshops, theatres, former factories, cafés, streets and squares, public places, hospitals, parks and gardens, prisons, cemeteries and metro stations become the backdrop for readings, performances and public conversations, inspiring a new perspective on these spaces.

For the publishing sector

A great networking occasion and a program dedicated to all the professions in the publishing sector, Salone del Libro organises workshops, conferences and b2b meetings at the Lingotto exhibition centre in May and throughout the year. It is a physical and virtual place to meet, train and find out all the news involving the book industry. The Rights Centre is one of the most important appointments in the European agenda of the publishing industry for selling and buying translation and publishing rights. Book to screen is the section dedicated to cinema and TV series rights sale. Publishers and agents from all over the world travel each year to Turin to take part in what has been described by participants as an “extremely well-organized, easy, fun and productive” trading and networking opportunity that promises a good time for all.

For the readers of tomorrow

Supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, this section of Salone del Libro is a call to action for schools and teenagers. It offers a variety of activities throughout the year for students across Italy, serving as a laboratory of ideas where students can experiment, understand, and discuss together using the best editorial materials for kids and teenagers. Many projects are ongoing throughout the year, but the longest-running one is Adotta uno scrittore, which has been bringing the most relevant contemporary authors to schools and prisons since 2004. The Educare alla lettura courses , dedicated to teachers , are available both at the fair and online throughout the year. They are a crucial resource for educators, engaging them in the mission to promote reading among younger generations, and making them an integral part of this important initiative.
